Title says it all. Is this possible? I'm liking Unity and just beginning to see the potential of workspaces, but it seems to me that they would be easier or more intuitive if each one could have its own background image.

this would be interesting to know, i know that in 10.10 you could set up compiz 3d cube and set it up so that each desktop there had a different background, but i am unsure with 11.04

The only problem is you wonīt be able to keep your icon desktops, because the desktop will be deseable.

I have been watching, but one bad experience with compiz was enough for me. I can live with the same background on each workspace...
