Hi Team

I am looking for help to reset the ubuntu 10.10 64bit MBR record

I was installed on my laptop Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit and now i need to install window 7 -64 bit for some testing purpose .. i am not able to install windows 7 64 bit

But , if i install windows7 -32 bit it was working fine ?

Then error was while installing win7-64

error: no such partition
grub rescue>


Some help me .... to solve this

I can be wrong,but I think it is Windows issue,not Ubuntu.If you install Windows 7 it should take MBR and you will need to reinstall grub if you want to boot in Ubuntu.I don't know how windows doesn't see NTFS partition.

If the grub you have is not rebooting did Windows overwrite Ubuntu. Normally windows will not see the Linux partitions.

Hi Every one ( friends )

I like to inform you all the problem was on my DVD drive . i connected external DVD drive and wiped the complete disk and deleted all the partitions and i installed windows 7 -64 bit without any issue .

I will be back to linux with 15 days time .
