I just installed ubuntu on my laptop (it came with SUSE but i like ubuntu better) from hp. My problem is that my wifi works but only if its within 10 feet of the router. i installed windows and the wifi works fine there, and it works fine in SUSE. i was just wondering if there are drivers i need to get to run this. my WIFI is Ralink RT 3090. There are no drivers on the HP site (go figure) and i cant find em on the net. thanks for any help you can give me.
P.S. i am an advanced noob but a noob none the less. please keep this in mind if my entire question is idiotic.

You can this website: https://launchpad.net/~markus-tisoft/+archive/rt3090 (https://launchpad.net/%7Emarkus-tisoft/+archive/rt3090)

Alternatively you can check my earlier post http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1476007, a user claims that the patch also works for the RT3090 when you replace it with the one given in my howto.

Good luck

Sven

One question on this. I had a 32-bit install and got the drivers and it worked perfectly but then i reinstalled to a 64 bit system. not it show that i have alternative drivers installed in the additional drivers but says they are not in use. do i need to add them to a list or activate them somehow? i installed via the deb package.
