Yeah? Bit weird... maybe someone forgot to pay the webhosting bill - stranger things have happened ;)

Apparently, it only hates ubuntu users. I can't get it either.

However, http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/http://lxde.org/

That link says the page loads. And it does load when you visit lxde.org...it loads a white screen. LOL.

Not related. http://lxde.org just loads a blank page and it is enough for downforeveryoneorjustme to call it working.

EDIT: Lol, Version Dependency beat me to it :)

What is strange is, the domain name is still valid until next year (whois @ 123-reg.co.uk), so that hasn't expired, if the webhosting has expired, usually a message from the webhost would takeover the website saying for the owner to contact the webhost,

Maybe the webhost account username/password got hacked and the hacker has deleted all the files, but if that happened usually the hacker would leave his mark, which hasn't happened, so it's very strange as to what has happened.

Did LXDE.org use a CMS?, if so, maybe a vulnerability was found in the CMS, then a script-kiddie tried the vulnerability and wiped out LXDE.org?

Page source SEEMED empty. Don't know why there was a javascript script in there, but it looked innocuous enough.

JS posted above is a pretty stock frame killer - so referers don't load your site with their banner across the top... might be as simple as a CMS / website update gone bad :(

I noticed this last week, and when I checked the google cache it looked like the hosting or domain registry had expired. The cached page was the usual link-farm type page.

I've been googling for a tweet or blog post about it, but haven't found any word from anyone about it.

There's still activity on the sourceforge page, so at least the project is alive.

Google cache (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:8vlsRU710yYJ:lxde.org/+lxde&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=ubuntu&source=www.google.com) says the domain name has expired. They're probably getting it back up if it's been renewed. ... unless someone stole it.

Edit: lykwydchykyn beat me to it.

Do they have an IRC?/Mailing list?

Some strange redirection happens now on the LXDE domain :frown:Yup. And then I get a WOT warning that the site has a poor rating. It redirects to, what I imagine is, a fake googlesyndication.com page.

I find it odd that the lxde team has made no announcement about this, or at least I cannot find one :(

Same here -- you'd think somebody would be shouting "hey, it's ok, we're still around!!"

Wow...did the LXDE guys just close shop? My go to installation for older computers is Lubuntu, which is fantastic on old machines. That would suck if LXDE just died.

EDIT: And just recently, it looked like Lubuntu was going to gain "official Ubuntu derivative" status: here (http://www.h-online.com/open/news/item/Lubuntu-to-become-official-Ubuntu-derivative-1241561.html).

Lubuntu 11.10 will become the official LXDE spin in the Ubuntu family.

The 11.04 is the last "unofficial" version to be released.

Phew! Relief! I was just about to burn the Lubuntu ISO and beginning to get antsy when I read that LXDE was down.
