In gnome, in the Places menu, there was an app which helped to connect to a network share. (Like samba e.g.).

I can't find it with Unity, I used keywords like "Network", "Share", "Map", etc.

Has it gotten a new name?

It was called "Connect to server..." on the menu, and the application was called "nautilus-connect-server"

Weird, Unity still can't find it but now I can start it from a terminal. Thanks

In Unity, start a nautilus window, then use File - Connect to server.

If the desktop is empty, or if you click on the desktop, the file menu will contain an option "Connect to server".
