View Full Version : [ubuntu] Log-in screen sometimes not showing some users

Hi,

I recently made a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04 and have issues with the log-in screen. There is one other user of the system in addition to me, but after booting up to the log-in screen, the other user does not appear on the list of users (though can log in by typing their username). If I log in then log back out, then the log-in user list correctly shows both users.

Any ideas what is going on and how to fix this?

Thanks

that seems normal and logical to me: if you are logged then why you'd need the list of other users ?

Thanks for the reply, but I think you mis-read my post. The log-in screen was missing users when nobody was logged in.

Incidentally, the problem has mysteriously cleared itself up now :-/

Me and my partner suffer from this problem intermittently.

Some of the time when she boots the PC from cold, her username does not appear on the login screen. She has to restart the PC for her name to appear.

For some reason (presumably because I was the first-created user), my name is ever-present, and does not suffer from sometimes being missing.

Can anyone shed light on this please?
