repositories for acroread and realplayer..

Hi,
I have the .deb files for these two packages..
these 2 .deb files are in
/home/myfolder/downloads

I added
deb file:/home/myfolder downloads/

in the sources.list file in /etc/apt/.

However when I execute
dpkg-scanpackages downloads | gzip > downloads/Packages.gz

there seems to be nothing in Packages.gz..
wjhat is wrong here?

what are you trying to do ?
are you trying to install acroread and realplayer.. then check http://www.UbuntuGuide.org
or are you trying to create a debs for thos packages?
