I couldn't see any other place that best fit this question except here, from a group that might know...

KMS was introduced with Ubuntu LTS 10.04. I am familiar with all the kernel boot options published at kernel.org... I am familiar with setting gfxmodes's and gfxterm... But KMS itself and it's conf files?

Besides this one "basic" page that just skims/glosses over some of the options and mentions "some" of the current bugs:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/KernelModeSetting

Is there online documentation on KMS, it's switches and configuration options? Specifically/Including the configuration options for the /etc/modprobe,d/Video_type-kms.conf files?

I maintain this sticky:

Trying to help people with the blankscreen saga. ...I have lots of hardware and much too much time on my hands. I'm trying to help people out and to do that, I'm doing my own homework, research and testing to work a few things out.

Any help, links or a push in the right direction would be much appreciated.
