Hi,
i just upgrade from Ubuntu 8.04LTS to 10.04LTS under vmware.
After upgrading the keyboard does not work. The mouse is OK. It works if I run in recovery mode using the console.
I already tried
1) run dpkg-reconfigure console-setup

2) edit /etc/default/console-setup:
XKBMODEL=”pc105″
XKBLAYOUT=”it”
XKBVARIANT=”"
XKBOPTIONS=”"

3) edit /etc/default/console-setup:
XKBMODEL=”evdev″
XKBLAYOUT=”it”
XKBVARIANT=”"
XKBOPTIONS=”"

At the end of this file I have a BOOTTIME_KMAP_MD5="aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa", is it right?

However, none of these solutions fixed the problem. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thank you for your help.

instead of generic "pc105" maybe you can set it to real hardware model for better result; and why staying so long under vmware ?

It was a problem related to VMware.
After reinstalling the vmwaretools under linux the problem was fixed.
