I've no idea why you're not already a member - other than you've not done so.
A huge +1 from me.
Good luck Andrew.

Andrew's wiki page should be in the guidelines sticky for membership as an example. A definite +1 from me :)

Good luck, andrew.46. :)
What a serendipitous way to discover Ubuntu! And I shall be trying your CD > mp3 script. Thanks.

Good luck, andrew.46. :)
Thanks for that :).

I remember the computer as it was a slightly unusual one: an HP e-PC c10, one of the older 'mini' computers. Unfortunately it died a while back but it was a great little computer in its day.
If you were interested in converting your cds to other formats using abcde there is a slightly expanded section on my personal website that deals with not only mp3 but ogg, flac, musepack, aac and speex:
abcde: Command Line Music CD Ripping for Linux

Thanks again :)

Thanks for your support hazard! I am hoping that you are referring to my MPlayer tutorials though as I have not actually written any FFmpeg guides :).

I meant to say mencoder but lately (because of my latest hd smartphone purchase) I'm messing a lot with video conversions and I'm totally disoriented from this stuff :D
