Unity in 11.04

Unity - Dislike.

I tried to remove it, started my session in ubuntu-classic mode and completely removed it from synaptic.
but it still shows the Ubuntu option in the login screen. If I do select that all I get is a blank screen.

Is there an way I can make the classic gnome desktop the default one for 'Ubuntu' session as well??
