How do I get notifications for updates?

In the previous version of Ubuntu (10.10) I got a notification of updates in the lower Gnome panel.
Now I am using 11.04 with Unity. I have not seen a notification of a update since then.

How can I get update notification for Ubuntu 11.04 with unity?

It should show up as a pulsing icon in your launcher...

Today the update manager icon appeared in the launcher.
Though not pulsing.

About that, I made an exciting discovery earlier today, now you also get a Notify-OSD bubble if the Update Manager found upgrades, even in Lucid! How cool is that?! :-D
