View Full Version : [ubuntu] Fonts are too large in non-Gnome/GTK apps after 8.04LTS to 10.04LTS upgrade...

I recently upgraded from 8.04LTS to 10.04LTS, and now font sizes are too large in Firefox as well as Qt applications. They look okay though in Gnome apps, Gimp and OpenOffice.

When I open the Gnome font settings, it says "Sans/Regular/10pt". "Sans Serif" (see below) is not available.

When I open the Qt font settings (qtconfig) it says "Sans Serif/Normal/10pt". "Sans" is not available.

The sample text renders significantly larger in Qt (see screenshots).

So here are my questions:

Do "Sans" and "Sans Serif" represent the same font?
If so, then why are they rendered differently?
If not, then why are they each only available in one of the font lists?

Any suggestions are welcome :-)
