Sneakernet package Installation experiences

has anybody here had any luck with installing packages via sneakernet on ubuntu (ie. downloading packages on one computer, using a cd, floppy, USB Drive, Jump Drive, to install them on another computer)
it's never worked for me

Let's put it this way, in my limited experience, there's certainly room for improvement here.

Anyway, I haven't tried it myself, but I recently stumbled on a little tool called apt-zip that was specifically designed to help in this situation. Maybe you want to give it a try.
