it looks like the link was to http://ubuntuguide.net/how-to-change-unity-sidebar-launcher-auto-hide-behaviour-in-ubuntu-11-04 but it was too long for something-or-other and ended up having an ellipsis in the middle of it. (http://ubuntuguide.net/how-to-change-unity-sidebar-launcher-auto-hide-behaviour-in-ubuntu-11-04)

except that this deals with the launcher on the side. i really hope there's a way to keep the menus themselves from hiding, because it's kind of annoying.

After a bit of stumbling through Ask Ubuntu, i found this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/25785/can-auto-hide-for-the-application-menu-be-turned-off-in-unity.

a bunch of people are asking this, and the answer seems to be 'no'. i'm hoping that it's really only 'not yet'... because this is an option that ought to be included by default.

The link shows that this is still under discussion. Does anyone know of any workaround developed since?
Thanks.
