In Ubuntu 10.10 I used to have the System monitor applet in the topbar (near wireless, audio, empathy etc icons). Now I can't find a way to do it.
Does anyone know hot to resolve it?

Hi,
You won't be able to add it to the top bar, but you should be able to reinstate the Gnome 2 panel to put it maybe at the bottom or right edge:

FWIW, I also think that lack of applet support creates a major loss of utility - we definitely need an official panel-like feature for at-a-glance and quick-click applets like (my favourites) System Monitor and Character Palette.
HTH,
Dave.

Just install "System Monitor Indicator" mentioned in this guide:

Apparently the only comparable monitor currently.
