I'm formatting my laptop and I wanted to back up the list of PPAs I have installed as well as my list of applications currently installed. Problem is, it's a long list and I don't want to be stuck writing them all down.

On another note, how's everyones Unity experience going? :)

EDIT: I found a tutorial that let's you do this, but it's a bit dated and doesn't work any more. Anyone know a fix for it?

This one worked last time I tried it :-)

Not sure about the ppa's though (unless you copy /etc/apt/sources.list.save and copy it back to the new install - but that's not tried and tested, just an idea).
