I so desperately want to get back to my previous "Usable" desktop.

I hate the launcher... if I wanted to be a mac moron, I would have bought a mac.

To have to use a search util to find an application is a very stupid idea.

I have just begun to learn Ubuntu, and installed it only 5 months ago.

Please give simple easy instructions on how to get the previously usable interface back short of formating the drive and re-installing 10.10.

Yeah, I'm not real impressed with the new layout. I don't see it as easier, more intuitive or less cluttered. But then, because of other problems, I've not had much opportunity to play around with it.

So when you log in select 'Classic' or 'Classic - no effects' and things should look more familiar.

Good luck!

Yeah, if you log off, then either before or after you select the user to login, some buttons pop up at the bottom of the screen.

One of them lets you choose Classic.

Once, your logged into Classic, you can go to system|administration|login screen

And change it to use classic by default.

I agree with you by the way.

Unity is nice for netbooks, but not for desktops
