I'm learning programming languages and have more familiarity with Windows. However, Ruby appears to have different coding under Linux systems. Given what I read about Ruby on Windows vs Linux, Linux seems like the better choice.

What programming languages differ depending on the operating system? Most languages seem to have differences in software availability. Essentially, I'm wondering what programming languages are better to learn using Ubuntu as opposed to Windows?"

It's a vague question in some ways. I'm trying to avoid learning a language on an OS and using software that is significantly inferior to what's available on Ubuntu.

Thanks

Coding Ruby is the same on Windows and Linux, as are most significant programming languages.
You just have to avoid operating-system specific libraries and extensions.
