[workaround] black screen after updating from 10.10 to 11.04 *****MUST READ******

For every one who upgraded to 11.04 and got a black screen while booting up.
i have found a work around to possibly fix and back up your files

my setup:
gateway NV78
ubuntu 11.04 (upgraded from 10.10)
black screen while booting
M220MV (used as a second monitor)


all i did was reboot my laptop with a second monitor attached to it so the video output would be displayed on the tv instead of my laptop.
