I've been reading lots of great things about Google Sketchup, so I figured I'd try to install it on Linux via Wine. Using the stock version of Wine that comes with Ubuntu 10.04 it installed and works perfectly!

I've already imported floor plans for our house from JPG and am working on a model of our house now so this should be fun.

So FYI for anyone interested in trying this out.

I've used some years ago to draw some buildings for a school project.
If you're not a professional or do not intent to spend a lot of time learning how to use more advanced software (like blender), it sure is a nice program and very user-friendly.

Cheers

Yeah!!! My company often goes to Expos everywhere in Greece and I always draw out our stand in Sketchup first and then make the furniture order! It helped me a lot!!

I wanted to use it to plan the future furniture arrangement of my room. I needed to import some IKEA models from the Warehouse feature (can't recall if that was the name, though). Unfortunately, the Warehouse didn't work in either Ubuntu or Arch.
I did model the walls and the ease of work impressed me.
