unity 3d will not load

unity 3d never loaded from the first time i installed ubuntu 11.04.When i run /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p this is what i get

I don't understand why i can't run unity i have a nvidia 256 mb card but in additional drivers is says this driver is active but not currently in use this error is a bug in additional drivers but the bug report says that nvidia is running and it's just a false report.I don't know if this is true or not.Could anyone help?

You could check in the xorg log in sys-admin-log viewer and see whether nvidia or nouveau is being used.

You could also try disabling the driver, rebooting and reinstalling the driver.

I reinstalled the nvidia driver it didn't help.From what i can tell it looks like the nvidia is loading and i can run compiz just not unity.Here is my log file

Thank you mc4man i was kind of thinking that way too after a lot of google searches i just can't see how /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p said it supported unity.The odd thing was that my nvidia driver in additional drivers said this driver is activated but not currently in use i was thinking the two problems were the same and they may be i don't know how to get around that.Compiz still works i just have to start compiz from the terminal each time i boot and again i don't know how to get around that.

I have a laptop with one of these and it didn't run. I decided to try out Unity 2D and I must say, it's not bad. Compared to Unity it's a little flat but still pretty nice.
Could you explain what your talking about when you say compared to Unity it's a little flatt
