View Full Version : [ubuntu] Using Tethered Android to scan WIFI

First of all, thanks to all the smart and wonderful people that help comprise this community, if it weren't for all of you, I'd never be typing this right now ;)

I am using Proxoid off a Cricket Kyocera/Sanyo Zio M6000 Android ver 2.2 (froyo) to act as a modem and jack my wireless connection, since my rig doesn't have a wireless card, and I don't want to run an uber-long ethernet cable (or buy a wireless LAN card, funds are tight, the economy is to blame), so I've had to resort to this method.

I used to do something similar with PDAnet on Windows.

can I use aforementioned Proxoid Linux modem to scan other wireless networks around me? My PS3 and Android can see quite a few, however, I want my PC to see them too.

Is purchasing a wireless LAN card the only possible way?

side-note, this is all happening over a Belkin Wireless router.
