Upgrade went well, but why do I not see the new gnome format?

My upgrade went well from 10.10 to 11.04 do I need to remove some stuff to get the new sidebar action to work? I retained my top and bottom bars, I was expecting the new setup. How do I get this going?

On the login screen (GDM) when you enter your username, are you booting into Ubuntu Classic, Ubuntu, or Unity 2D? Select either Ubuntu or Unity 2D (2D only if your hardware doesn't support 3D).
