Well yesterday I decided I update to 11.04. Installing of 11.04 went very smooth.

I then decided that I wanted to use GNOME3 instead of Unity. I then added the PPA to the repository and did a update and upgrade. After the reboot I got a blue screen with the login screen in one of the very old themes of ubuntu. When I logged in I did get a sort of combo of Gnome2 unity and Gnome3. Then when I wanted to update it gave a 'only partial upgrade possible'-message. There were two gnome related updates but I couldn't install them for some reason. Then I managed to completely destroy ubuntu because I couldn't login anymore, recovery console didn't work either. Okay so I re-installed ubuntu, everything went smooth, accept that grub was destroyed to, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1746858. After the install I added the ppa again and tried again. The updatemanager gave his 'only partial upgrade possible'-message already at this moment. Well I continued and again no gnome3. Re-installed ubuntu and did exactly what was told here:
http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Install-GNOME-3-on-Ubuntu-11-04-194085.shtml

Well still didn't work and I need to reinstall ubuntu again.
Why oh why won't GNOME3 be installed on my laptop!?!?

I have http://www.notebook-driver.com/laptops-information/toshiba-portege-m750-s7201-notebook-tech-specifications/

I hope anyone (recognizes this problem) can help me with this.

From the gnome3 ppa:

https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/gnome3

This package contains packages from GNOME3 and their dependencies so they can be used in Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty). This PPA is EXPERIMENTAL and MAY BREAK YOUR SYSTEM. There is no downgrade process.

From UGR:

http://ugr.teampr0xy.net/install

DO NOT install this on a production machine, THERE IS NO DOWNGRADE PATH. THIS HAS NO WARRANTY, AND IT COULD SERIOUSLY MESS THINGS UP.

Euh...? You mean to say that gnome3 hasn't got a stable release yet?
