Hi,
I am putting a version of *buntu on an old laptop ( intel 1.6 core2, 2GB of ram ). The person who will use it is used to using my Kubuntu and generally new to computers. Can anyone recommend the best version of *buntu to install - ideally something that will allow the machine to run smooth and does not require the user to "learn" a whole new desktop - trying to make them comfortable using a computer and not afraid of it.

Thanks:

If the person is new to computers,I suggest they jump in with 11.04 and Unity and avoid learning a new DE when Gnome Panel ceases to be available.

Thanks, its hard to tell from a live CD but any idea how Ubuntu11.04 would run on a core2 1.6Ghz, 2 gb ram, old nividia gfx card.
