No video after upgrading to 11.4

All worked flawless until I upgraded from 10.10 to 11.4.

I cannot see any video (avi, mkv, mov, wmv) in any player. I do have sound though.

I think you need to do this to them them working again:


sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

I did install this. Nothing.

Same problem using old Acer laptop travelmate c-110 worked not a problem before upgrade, Intel 855GM video chipset
Ubuntu-restricted-extras = already installed.

Problem :
Mythbuntu Video playback is all blue screen no video , same for watching live TV .
Sound is working seems like video is playing but no video overlay.

Update :
Video overlay works for a short amount of time after a reboot then stops and is the blue screen no video works .

flaky video drivers ?
