Hello everyone

1) Just a general question: if I install from source, should I subtract the .tar.gz always in /usr/share/? None of the online FAQ's or guides say something about that. Just "extract".

2) Another question: how do I point to the installation directory and the executable file for example tesseract so that I can enter the command tesseract from every path in bash?

3) And a detailed question: What if for example only versoin 2.xx is available from the package manager (or "Ubuntu software") and I've installed a newer version example 3.00 from source. How do I point the command tesseract whom is still using the old version to the new one?

Thanks!

Thank you! I kind of followed the same thread to install it. Slightly different.

Should I put the extracted files in my home directory then instead of /usr/share?
