I am running Lucid Lynx on a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop. Every time I try to upgrade to 11.10 (via the Update Manager) I get the below listed errors. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have the similar problem! :S
While I'm upgrading, it passes 2 first steps, and when in this:

It crashes, saying no error.

after reopen update manager, it asked me about if I want to PARTIAL UPGRADE... im doing that, but I have question. What's PARTIAL? it means that it'll be not full update, but ... how to make full.

Gore_Grinder,
I am connected via a wireless 'N' network to a cable modem. As an aside I went to
http://astromirror.uchicago.edu/ubuntu/dists/
and the latest distribution that they have is Lucid.

Installation of update to 11.04 looked fine, without error nessages, but after rebooting I just get to the login prompt, no windows manager. What can I do here.

For upgrade issues, please go to Software Center > Edit > Software Sources > Select Other under Download Server > Choose best server.

@ Boengborg:

Please take a look here and if it doesn't help, start a new thread.

SOLVED:
my solution was to not use GTK update manager
Instead I used apt-get dist-update in bash.
In this moments it's upgrading...

That did the trick, however, best server went kept the same one. So I just used US Server.

I selected a new server and that worked. 11.10 is now installing the packages. Thanx

When I finished the upgrade from bash... a lot of errors and things happened.. But finally it upgraded.
When I restarted, I had no X . Just console. If I "startx" , it crashes with a lot of NVIDIA errors..

Then I've done fsarchiver restore . So I had the same ubuntu that before I've upgraded.

Now if I try what you say : choose best server. Nothing changes.
The screenshot I showed you before, is the same problem I still having.

Here's all the log from bash:

sudo do-release-upgrade

I'm having a similar problem (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1750859). I couldn't get it to change the server; the only change now is that Update Manager now A) is offering a "partial upgrade" and B) is showing a bunch of other packages to be installed -- that doesn't work, either.
