Just a quick question really: is 10.10 as stable, or more, than 10.04? I see a lot of people are using it and not pleased with 11.04, but I think its time I made an upgrade

Also, if I choose to upgrade to 10.10, can it be done automatically through system updates like 11.04 or would I have to do it manually since 11.04 is out?

You can't upgrade from 10.04 straight to 11.04, so update manager should show you 10.10 first.

As for stability of 10.10 guess it depends on your hardware, it was fine for me - it will go end of life before 10.04, meaning that you will have another upgrade decision in about 12 months whereas 10.04 still has a couple of years support on the desktop.

I generally believe (up to a point) newer is better so would always want the latest.. as long as it works ;) but there is the old adage that says if it aint broke... don't fix it. :)

Remember to back up all data you wouldn't want to lose before going ahead.

I found 10.10 pretty reliable, got it installed on a dual core server and several laptops and it's all been fine (keeping up with updates of course).

Just been brave and tried the 11.04 - if you need stability and familiar surroundings best leave the 11.04 upgrade for a later date, but it's got some cool new features.
