Hey all .My problem is exactly the same as the one which faced nikhilbuwa (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=1174483) in his post in the last month

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1714540

First of all here is some useful info about my issue
OS:Ubuntu 11.04 Final version 32 bit
Modem used : ZTE 3G USB modem
Network manager : Default one (BCM not installed)
Previously OS used without problems :Windows 7 Sp1 64 it on Toshiba L500 laptop
ISP: (Internet service provider):Zain (Telecommunications company at Kuwait )

Secondly some events which happened about the issue :
1-Connection lost (Modem disconnects after a period of time while it is connected to the Internet )
2-Nothing worked when I tried to unplug the modem and then replug it
3-the effective solution was restarting the whole system so the modem can be shown again

Thirdly some results after executing the following command in first Terminal :
1-

tr -s "\n" < /dev/ttyUSB2This is the second Terminal :
2-

echo -e "AT+COPS=3,2\r" > /dev/ttyUSB2
Result: OK3-

echo -e "AT+COPS?\r" > /dev/ttyUSB2
Result:+COPS: 0,2,"41902",2

OK4-

echo -e "AT+CGDCONT?\r" > /dev/ttyUSB2
Result:+CGDCONT: 1,"IP","hspps","0.0.0.0",0,0
+CGDCONT: 2,"IP","HSPPS","0.0.0.0",0,0

OK5-

ls -al /dev/serial/by-id/*
Result:

Hi oliveer , welcome to the Forum

have looked through the info.

as regards the device and the Linux system , all seems to be OK

here are some areas to look at as regards Network Manager and Modem Manager

1. In Network Manager PPP Settings > Configure methods , disabling some of the
Authentication Methods , also try selecting Echo Send PPP echo packets

you will monitor the effects to see if there is any improvement

2. When a disconnection occurs and the Network Manager can't connect ,do not unplug the device. open up the terminal and enter the following code

ls -al /dev/serial/by-id/*post the results
if the device is still listed try this command

sudo killall modem-manager
wait a few moments see what happens
