i just downloaded ubuntu 11.04 and wubi is not there? what shoul i do??

Wubi is on the desktop cd image. Or you can download it separately at http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/windows-installer - but it needs the desktop cd for the install.

hi

actually in my over excitement i downloaded the alternate install of ubuntu, this i just noticed, after spending 4-5 hrs in downloading.

any suggestions regarding this... is the alternate ubuntu something diff??

The alternate CD is a text-based installer. It can be used for special configurations such as LVM, RAID, automated deployments, and the like. You can also do a regular install with it; quite fun actually and not that difficult.

The "alternate" installation disk uses a text-based installer, and has a few options not available on the regular "desktop" disk.

is there some way i can use wubi with the alternate disk. bcoz i just wanted to use wubi !!

No. See post # 3 from bcbc. Wubi is not available on the alternate CD and requires the regular desktop version CD.
