View Full Version : [ubuntu] Help .. after install ubuntu 11.04 only black screen appear

:( help me after i installed ubuntu 11.04 and restart .. nothing appear only black screen

i think my problem in my vga card ....
i have switchable one in my laptop (ATI Radeon HD 5600 /intel ):(

can you deactivate one into bios ?

i logged into my bios but i didn't find any option to deactivate one of them

mine laptop is hp dv6-3140 se

Try using the nomodeset boot option.

i allready installed the ubuntu 11.04 but while booting it welcome screen not opened only black screen

Do you get the Grub menu before the black screen? Grub has a list of OS choices.

Can you run it from the live cd/usb?
Did you select "Try Ubuntu" before installing to make sure it would run on your hardware?

Also, did you check the md5sum & check the cd/usb for defects?

yeah i'm now from recovery -> low graphical mode

I asked you about 4 different questions. So I thought you meant that everything was working fine.

Anyway, if you've got it working in low graphics mode. I can't really help you from there, but I think you need to check for drivers.
