Trying to stop the background from moving and have it look nice again? In the ccsm under desktop wall in the tab viewport switching add this to Non Sliding Windows: type=Dock | type=Desktop | state=Sticky
Now just have to get chromium to actually remain the default browser instead of switching every time. Also Unity is terrible.

You can run Natty/11.04 and still use the 'Classic’ UI: Natty Info: Your UI options (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1741293)

I was using "Classic", it was still shifting the desktops. Classic is somewhat of a solution to Unity, but still has some issues in this version.
