Is there a way to install Gnome 3 in Ubuntu 11.04 WITHOUT damaging anything? So that it replaces the classic mode and leaves Unity alone?

Is that stable? Will it damage Unity?

Sorry to say that it appears to damage unity. :-( However Gnome 3.0 is nice.

In my case I did not care too much as I installed 11.04 on a seperate machine.

OK, how did it go? Did you get gnome 3 installed and running on 11.04.

Also there is a link in your link to install it on 10.04 and 10.10. Did anyone try this yet?

I read something somewhere about this happening. If you don't use Unity does gnome 3 look and work OK? And is it better than Unity?

Right now I am waiting for a new wireless card because 11.04 does not like my Broadcom card I have now.

I think I will install it. I don't really care much about Unity.

I guess I feel like you. I don't care for Unity either. I see Full Circle Magazine is looking for input on Unity. I may have to give them my 2 cents worth.
