Erorr message when trying to update

Hi,
when I hit the "upgrade" button, the box greys out and I get a message saying "could not download release notes, check your internet connection" (or words to that effect), any ideas?

the release note has now downloaded, but it just hangs on the notice when I click upgrade? what can I do?
