I've been playing around with Gentoo inside VirtualBox, which means I'm recompiling my kernel - A LOT. About the seventh or eighth time round, I came across something which lightened the mood of the very complicated task...

BTW I'll be showing Gentoo to anyone who thinks Ubuntu is complicated.;)

Yup, inherited from way back and passed on from upgrade to upgrade. I never thought about it really.

If you look in the Makefile for Linux 2.6.38.4, it says this as the name:

"Flesh-Eating Bats with Fangs"
