So I just bought a "gaming laptop" from WidowPC, which can be seen here:

Sting 517 (http://www.widowpc.com/2006/05/sting_517m_gami.php)

Now my question is.... how well would Ubuntu work on that beast?

AND should I even bother with Linux since the laptop will be primarily for games??

Should work well, but little things can come up.

Yes, for a couple of reasons:

1) Linux can play some games that are popular on windows.

2) For when you're not gaming, you will be much safer on Ubuntu.

Dont like computer manufacturers that wont let me buy a naked computer (no OS) Therefore I wouldnt consider buying from them, or dell or ibm or............ But if you want a perfectly legal windows I guess you get a discount buying OEM. (although widowpc sends you the "real version")
