No sound in natty

I can go through the motions of playing a MP3 in Audacity but there is no sound. When I test sound in the system preferences, the sound works.
What needs to be changed so that sound comes out either on the built-in speakers or via usb speakers?

System Preferences->Multimedia->Phonon->Speaker Setup->Sound Card->Headset

Also I have problems with audio after upgrading.
Kernel module of my sound card are loaded, Phonon can see my sound card but I'm not able to listen to anythings: no Amarok, no Youtube Video, no Kaffeine.

Any ideas?

Audio come back only removing all pulseaudio packages...
Any other solutions?
