Could someone please help. I'm trying to install Ubuntu 8.10 on an old pc which has Windows ME installed.
Everything goes well until I reach the who are you? screen; it won't allow me to type my personal info, there's no cursor, nothing.
The cursor appears on the keyboard layout screen and I can type.
There are no errors on the disc as I've checked it and downloaded Ubuntu on another comp with the same disc. Thanks for any help.

Hi, welcome to the fora.

8.10 is unsupported and should not be used:

Besides this, my guess is that the machine does not have enough memory for Ubuntu. How much is in it?

If it's an old pc, try installing the latest xubuntu or lubuntu on it (11.04, as from tomorrow).

There's 192 MB of memory available.

Then Ubuntu and Xubuntu are out.

Try Lubuntu 10.10 or this:

In that case I'll try Lubuntu, thanks for the help.
