I had ubuntu running great on my netbook. I needed to use windows 7 for something but when I tried to boot it it said it was damaged and needed to reinstall. Ok. After it reinstalled now Grub does not come up. It goes to the bios F2 screen and then restarts over and over.

I made the USB stick using the Terminal on a Mac. I went into the netbooks bios and told it to boot from USB first. Still looping.

I removed the hard drive and it said insert a disk and press any key. I took this to mean it was not seeing that the usb stick was bootable though the stick did show up in the bios as sandisk cruiser.

Did I make the USB stick wrong? I re-did it a couple of times.

Try using unetbootin to create a bootable Ubuntu usb. Unetbootin is available for Windows, Mac, and linux: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
Assuming this works for you, here is a great site with tutorials for dual booting Ubuntu and Windows7: http://members.iinet.net/~herman546/

And welcome to the Ubuntu forums!
