View Full Version : [ubuntu] ubuntu instalation freezes

Hi,

I just tried to install ubuntu10.10 on my laptop and it froze at this screen:

the wierd thing is only instalation program freezes, everything else is still working.

please help

Have you checked the MD5sum of the install CD? Maybe its a corrupted ISO.

yup MD5sums are the same

During booting, at the first purple screen (with the stickman icon at the bottom) press any key. Then choose your language and on the next screen you should see an option to check the cd for errors. See if that comes up with a problem. It could be a bad burn. If it finds an error, try burning the image again, but use the slowest burn speed.

i'm sorry i should hav told u sooner, i'm using usb stick, not a cd

Ok, thats another case, maybe try it with a CD.

Yes definitly try a cd. It is probably a bug in whatever usb installation script you used as opposed to a bug in ubuntu.

Post #4 will still work for a USB. It's the same thing as far as the check is concerned :wink:
