I will wait for the final release but I have some questions regarding upgrading.

Will the upgrade install unity along with gnome, and will it replace gnome as the default desktop environment
Will the new programs replace older ones (ex. libreoffice replacing openoffice, banshee replacing rhythmbox), will they install alongside my programs or will they not install
Will my settings and addons/plugins be changed at all?

Thanks!

1. Yes but you can still change to Classic Gnome 2 style.
2. Yes.
3. Normally not but I would make anyway a backup of everything before upgrading.

1. Unity is a plugin for Compiz and uses Gnome as it's desktop.

2. Yes your applications will be updated. Banshee will be installed, but I don't think it will uninstall rhythmbox.

3. Settings and plugins should be fine. Those are simple to fix if there not.

Thanks,
Doesn't ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition use unity without compiz?
