5,500 road closure requests for royal wedding street parties, full TV and News coverage most of the day.

I can think of more appealing things, like slowly pulling out my finger nails

What to do alternatively?

Don't complain, most of us in the UK are getting an extra holiday. Just turn the TV off and enjoy the holiday. The BBC has too much power in the UK anyway, so boycott them for a few days :-) If the weather is nice then go out and do something. Never let the mainstream media control your life.

The only reason England has it's Parliament is because of fear of what occurred in France. The truth of the matter is the royalty still control the empire regardless of what some old papers say. If they didn't the Parliament could have cut off the money purse decades or even centuries ago, but they never have.

Too many things wrong with your post. Don't you mean; "the only reason England still has a monarchy"? Then your post would make more sense. Anywho, we're less emotional than the French, hence why we still have a monarchy. And no, the Queen has no power, just some influence. The Empire is just a few small islands now also.
