This is my first post here, and since the problem i have is not is the SOLVED section as i tried to google it, i decided to post this new thread.
I am in ubuntu 11.04, and when i drag and drop an icon to the desktop trying to create a shortcut i have this popup.
it says :

there was an error getting information about ,,/''
specified location is not suported

here is the screenshot of it.
hope this is informative enough.
all the best

Does this happen with every shortcut you try to add to the desktop?

Every single dragndrop one gives the same error.

Except when i installed Shufllr ( adobe air app) the installer asked to create a shortcut on desktop, and there it is.

also creating launcher is working.

Can you just open your Desktop folder in the Nautilus file browser and move the launchers in that way?

This is a known bug:

I wish the priority were a bit higher, though, as it's kind of major usability issue, IMO.
