(11.04) For the last few days, I have not have any 3D effects and the Ubuntu login option is no longer running unity but is like the ubuntu classic with only 2D. I have uninstalled/reinstalled nvidia-current several times including the latest update this morning, but still no luck. In "Additional Drivers" it says "activated but not currently in use."

I've been through the suggestions in this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1386207) but no luck there either.
Any other ideas? thanks!

You are lucky that you found console for command line interface. I know, it is there - must be! But where? I can not find it. Tell me and you will make an old man (me) happy...

ctrl+alt+t should bring up the terminal.
