Hello everyone, I am really in need of help.
The thing is, that I have been trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" for a long time now, but unfortunately, without any success.
At first, when the LiveCD booted, I got the Installation failed messagebox, but as I have read somewhere, this is typical, so I got to the desktop. Now there is the "Install Ubuntu 10.10" icon, and when I run it, the following pops up in the taskbar: "Starting Administrative Application" and then it disappears. I did this a lot of times, but I always get the same.
I have a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop with an Intel Core2 Duo 32bit processor.
So I am desperate, and if anyone could help me with this, I would be greatful.
Thank you,
Greets,

@dino99
I already have 3 partitions, one is NTFS for Windows 7, the other one is for Mac(iDeneb) and the third one is Linux-swap I have created with gParted.
Can I install Ubuntu 10.10 on the Linux-swap partition, and how?

while partitionning you max can use 4 "primary" partitions. So organize your hdd to have max 3 "primary" AND an extended one where you can add into it the desired linux partitions

about the swap partition: like its name, its for swap (only)

Okay, I will do it, thanks. Also, can that be a problem if I tried the Desktop edition instead of Netbook edition, since I have a laptop?
