There was this thought-provoking article in Fast Company magazine:

The Sharing Economy (http://www.fastcompany.com/node/1747551/print)

A Guide to the Shareable Life (http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/155/a-guide-to-the-shareable-life.html) - companion article with a list of websites

The idea sound really attractive. Cut consumption, reduce debt, and lower pollution. On the flip side, gain access to a wider variety of products and services--at little or no cost.

It really got me thinking. The best meals I've eaten, the best places I've stayed in, the happiest times I've had with people--they were all shared experiences. When I think of the times I was saddest, they were almost always when I was alone.

What do you guys think?

Kind of related...

Panera bread is considering the idea of "community run" shops. You pay what you want for the products then volunteer your time at the shop.

It is a very viable economic system. The government doesn't like it because they cannot tax it...so they discourage it.
