View Full Version : [ubuntu] USB problem : unable to enumerate USB device on port ...

April 20th, 2011, 11:03 PM
So I have had this problem for a while, and it is particularly acting up right now, and it is not a good time. (lots of work to do)

When I plug in a USB (thumb drive), I get a dmesg that says:
unable to enumerate device on port ...

When I was using 8.04, i could use the command :
$sudo modprobe -r ehci-hcd
and that would solve my problem, and though it was a slow connection, it would work after that.

I have since upgraded to 10.04, and that command no longer works. I was wondering if any one has found a good way around this, something so that I can transfer files... no matter how slow.
I know this has been asked alot, but I can not seem to find any current and useful solutions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am running:
Ubuntu 10.04
T42 ThinkPad

Thankyou in advance.
