Hi Guys and Gals,

I am in the market for a new PC.

I started by looking up the best value CPU (here (http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_value_available.html)) and choosing the other hardware around that. I went for the AMD PhenomII×4 - black.

I want to get a decent motherboard with good onboard graphics and sound. I am not a big gamer, so onboard is fine and it will save some money.

Anyway, I am struggling a bit because I have read reports of compatibility issues with both the ATI and NVIDIA card options I found with the Gigabyte brand motherboard. Apparently both work with Ubuntu, but not optimally.

Rather than this haphazard way of selecting hardware and then finding out it doesn't work and having to go through the shopping/selecting process again, is there some kind of online tool/facility to help me choose Ubuntu compatible hardware???

I have Google around but not found anything comprehensive or very usable.

Any help appreciated.
